Studies show that roughly 50% of dogs are afraid of fireworks. More dogs run away on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. For humans, the concussive boom of fireworks can be heard as far away as 50 miles if the conditions are right. This means that dogs can hear fireworks from even further away because of their acute hearing.
